with Bill Whelan and David Andreozzi
Meet at 3 Ledge Road. Please park in beach parking lot at the bottom of Gibson Road.

Join Bill Whelan at his home on Ledge Road for his enthusiastic talk about his
published book "The Highlands" and learn about the fascinating stories he uncovered while doing his research.  Then take an architectural walking tour of this neighborhood bordering on Narragansett Bay with well-known RI architect and local resident, David Andreozzi, to discover the interesting and wide variety of architectural styles from the early beach cottages of the 19th century through to the renovations and the new constructions of 20th and 21st centuries. 
Light refreshments will be served.
$10 per person or $5 if you are a member of BH&PS
or are a member of the Bristol Highlands Neighborhood Association.

To present the unveiling of the portrait of the 36th governor of RI and original owner of Seven Oaks, Augustus O. Bourn, by painter and portrait artist, Tom Deininger.

SUMMER HISTORY BOOK CLUB
Join in for one or two or three meetings of this year's seafaring Summer History Book Club.  Meet on Sundays at the Society at 1 p.m. on June 10, July 22 and August 19.  
FREE and open to the public.  
No pre-registration needed.  
Just show up and bring your own brown bag lunch
and the Society will provide drinks and pastries.    

The reading line-up is:
June 10th - "In the Heart of the Sea:  The Tragedy of the Whaleship Essex" by Nathaniel Philbrick.
July 22nd - "Two Years Before the Mast" by Richard Henry Dana, Jr.  This meeting will also include the much shorter book "To Cuba and Back: A Vacation Voyage" also by Dana.
August 19th - "Over the Edge of the World: Magellan's Terrifying Circumnavigation of the Blobe" by Laurence Bergreen.
