The BH&PS Genealogical Club meets on the first Saturday morning of the month from September through June. If the first Saturday falls on a holiday weekend, the group will meet the following Saturday.
Cindy Elder, author of two really interesting books, The Journey Begins and The Drumbeats of War, will talk about her research beginning with an extraordinary find of a box of letters written in the mid 19th century by her husband's second great-grandparents (James and Ruth Jenkins) who lived in West Barnstable on the Cape. James Jenkins was a sea captain leading many voyages around the world and wrote letters home to his then girlfriend, Ruth Fish, a daughter of another ship's captain. Later when they marry, Ruth joins James on his voyages and thIs same "box of letters" also included Ruth's letters written home to her mother. And from there, Cindy Elder began her research which lead to the writing of these two books.
FREE AND OPEN TO THE PUBLIC AT THE BH&PS HEADQUARTERS, 48 COURT STREET, BRISTOL

MORE ABOUT THE GENIE CLUB
We have a very lively group and sometimes have guest speakers. We also devote a portion of each meeting to our "brick wall roundtable" to help members with their individual research problems.
There is no fee to join and it is open to the public, although donations are always welcome to enable guest speakers. A suggested donation is $10 per year. See below, or if by mail, please write Genie Club on your check and send to BH&PS Genie Club, PO Box 356, Bristol, RI 02809.
To be added to the Genie Club mailing list, please send a request to: info@bhpsri.org.
