TALES FROM JAIL & PANDORA'S BLOG

DIGGING FOR HISTORY

My name is Pandora and I am the official history mascot for the Bristol Historical & Preservation Society's KIDS TALES FROM JAIL newsletter. Written by the History KIDS, BH&PS staff, and guest writers, we publish these newsletters on this site, with extra printed copies available at the BH&PS Headquarters.

PANDORA'S BLOG is about he individual historical events that shaped Bristol's and America's history. Read about "old" families, "lost" businesses, our founding fathers, the "pest house" on the Town Common, and more!

The KIDS Tales from Jail is back! This time written and researched by Bristol-Warren's Mt. Hope High School sophomore, Max Chartier. And fitting for America's upcoming 250th anniversary, Max has chosen to write about the rebellious "Tea Parties" up and down the eastern seaboard.

We all learned in our history classes about Boston's famous Tea Party on December 16, 1773, where the Sons of Liberty dumped 340 chests of British  East India Company tea into the Boston Harbor. But do we know about the other "party" right here in Providence as well as "parties" in New Jersey, South Carolina, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, and Maine?

Read on! See below....
